Quarter 2

Nov 17- VSEPR

Outcome: MS1 Examine the role of valence electrons in the formation of chemical bonds.[SI]

h. Predict the arrangement of atoms and draw Lewis structures (electron dot structures) to represent covalent‐ and ionic‐bonded molecules.

I. Predict the geometry and draw the shapes of molecules with a single central atom using valence shell electron pair repulsion (VSEPR) theory. (K, S)

Documents: lesson 3 2017(ppt) MS1 Bonds Lesson 3 2017

Today we started work on the research project. We also looked at how to determine the shape of molecules. We used VSEPR Theory to determine the shape for many molecules and began the balloon molecule assignment. We will finish on Monday.
