You might have come across an article or two about antioxidants. But what exactly are they? Would antioxidant-rich foods such as chocolates, coffee, and red wine actually be the answer to our health problems? It seems that they will help us live longer, and then the next day they’re giving us heart attacks. So what’s whole deal with antioxidants then?

All the magic that we know is in the transfer of electrons. Reduction and oxidation combine to form Redox chemistry, which contains the majority of chemical reactions. As electrons jump from atom to atom, they carry energy with them, and that transfer of energy is what makes all life on earth possible. One of the most notable example of redox happens in our body, which is how antioxidants work.

This podcast will be covering how oxidation works in our bodies, a summary of the relationship between antioxidants and free radicals, and the impacts of antioxidants; both good and bad.
