Throughout the last 60 years the goal tenders mask that is used now in professional hockey around the world has evolved tremendously. From a basic carbon fibre front face to shield, to now a whole head protected helmet with a cage, advancements of technology lead to a near perfect piece of equipment. Trial and error was a big use in perfecting a goalie mask, by discovering what materials break easy, and what can withstand these hard hockey shots. The main attraction of these masks, the art work, has also evolved greatly. From starting out with just a plain marker drawing of a stitch, to now a whole colourful design of pictures and symbols, the uniqueness of a players mask has became a special piece in each NHL clubs history.
